The Root House by Mangas Properties. An ethos, the designed house, and its rich wooded site. The vernacular of Mangas Properties is conspicuous.
Careful not to displace the site's natural elemental beauty, The Root House creates a space of utter tranquility born from the ground to grow stronger with time. A home that envelopes you with its warm interior and instinctually encourages you to play in its surroundings. All materials were selected to complement this organic ethos and finished with humble, lasting integrity.
Embracing, Effortlessly Luxurious. A property along one of the few remaining maintained gravel roads throughout The Plains and Middleburg, following a storied mountain range, primarily surrounded by one thousand acres of conservation land.
Materials include: Natural wood interior walls, floor, and ceiling; Indirect architectural lighting for enhanced natural ambiance; Honest stone and concrete for durability; Full height windows and doors.
Dictated by the site, the house rises on piers above hundreds of surface boulders along a verdant slope. The floor is placed for a level entry with an elevated exposure at the opposite end. Preserving as many trees as possible lends to a visual screen of bright green foliage contrasted by almost black tree trunks. Glass reflects the image of the site, while the vertical charred siding mimics the trees. The home is hidden in plain sight.
After years of careful consideration, Mangas found what seemed extinct; A property along one of the few remaining maintained gravel roads throughout The Plains and Middleburg, following a storied mountain range, primarily surrounded by one thousand acres of conservation land. The unforeseen gift is that this might be the furthest East one can possibly find such a site, the ultimate privacy and convenience at once.
